Remember the Child: Lane Graves

Remember the Child: Lane Graves

UPDATED: 6/16/2016

After reading many updates, listening to press conferences, and discussing with other fellow Disney lovers I have a few words to share.

Seven Seas Lagoon

Please be respectful and remember that a family lost a child.  Lane Graves was a two year boy. An excited child in Disney World. Innocence, memorized magic and fun. A curious child exploring the world. A little brother, a second child, a son. Someone with the whole world ahead of him and a life to live. Let's never forget.

While Walt Disney World is a remarkable place for vacations, remember that the real world is still out there. Although man-made, Seven Seas Lagoon branches off into several other large bodies of water. Walt Disney World is built on a swampland. It is not uncommon that wildlife including, alligators, can find their way to an area they would think is a natural habitat. Remember that no matter where you are be aware of your surroundings. Assuming that an alligator wouldn't be in a body of water in Florida is just like assuming a bear isn't in a mountain. Disney has many signs that state "No Swimming" along their beach and other waterfront areas. There are various reasons that people shouldn't be in the water including gators. There are also several boats out looking for gators. It's hard to recognize these securities when you are engulfed in the magic of Disney, but they are there.

Keep your loved ones close and remember to obey the rules in place. They are there for your protection. Not to inconvenience you or ruin your fun.

My only hope now is that the family finds peace with this tragedy and the Disney Resorts have extra precautions in play to prevent another incident. Although this is extremely rare, it still happened. It only takes one time to see the consequences.

Take this time to not place blame but to learn ways to prevent tragedies such as this from ever happening again. Not just an alligator attack or at WDW but all around you and anywhere.

Peace be with the Graves family, with Lane, and all who were effected by this horrific event.
