A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes-Disney Themed Wedding Interview

A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes-Disney Themed Wedding Interview

At some point in their life, every girl dreams of being a princess. Whether it's dress up, Halloween, or even on your wedding day! Disney weddings and Disney themed weddings are becoming more and more popular among couples dreaming of their day being nothing short of a fairy tale.  I met Garlynne in popular Disney fan Facebook group properly titled Disney Junkies.  She had shared with the group members some photos and video of her and her now husband's Disney themed wedding! I was stunned at the level of creativity and attention to detail she had in their wedding! I had reached out to her to find out more about how she made their wedding so stunning and magical! Their weeding truly encompasses the phrase ...and they lived happily ever after!

1. What is your name and your husband's name and where are you two from?

My name is Garlynne Crespo I'm from Charlestown Indiana. My husband is Miguel Crespo and he's from Vincennes Indiana.

2. How did you meet?

Miguel and I met at work in 2012 working at Amazon. During our lunch break he came up to me and asked if he could sit with me. We've been inseparable since.

3. Tell us about your engagement!

Our engagement happened during a trip in 2015 at Magic Kingdom. He got down on one knee in front of Cinderella's Castle and asked me to marry him.

4. What was the date of your wedding?

Our wedding date was August 22nd, 2015

5. Do you both have a love for Disney?

My first Disney trip was when I was 4 years old, so I've always had a strong passion and love for Disney. When I first met Miguel he wasn't so much a Disney fan. His first trip was when he was 3 years old as a Make-a-Wish child and he hadn't been since.  In 2014 my family and I took him to Disney World and he's been hooked since!

6. How did you decide to have a Disney Themed Wedding?

My family and I have been on over 30+ Disney World trips, and I have never gotten enough. As a young girl, I imagined my dream wedding in Disney style, so when Miguel and I became engaged, I couldn't imagine a wedding theme other than Disney.

7. Did you look into getting married at Disney World or Disneyland?

Of course, as soon as we decided on a Disney theme, we looked into Disney wedding packages. We felt like we would be able to incorporate more Disney elements at home, and more members of our family and friends would be able to attend and enjoy the Disney experience as well.

8. Where were your venues? (Ceremony and reception)?

image.jpg

When we started our search for venues, we knew that the ceremony would take place at my home church. My Pastor has always had a special place in my heart so I knew I wanted him to marry us. The reception hall would prove to be more difficult. My mother and I envisioned a venue with rooms instead of one open room. Our thinking was that rooms would feel more like our guests were moving from one "world" to another- just like walking from Adventureland to Fantasyland. We finally found what we were looking for when we booked a historical house called The Montrose in southern Indiana.

9. How did you find Disney inspiration for your wedding? Did you go to the parks? Use Pinterest?

My mom spent hours making notes for the layout and details for the ceremony and reception. Unfortunately, she had time while she recovered from surgery due to breast cancer (completely healed, by the way!) We researched on Pinterest. We found many ideas there, but most we created from the inspiration found on our many trips (like our wedding program/guide maps) to especially the Magic Kingdom. The trip we took right before the wedding was specially for shopping the parks for that inspiration.

10. Did you make a lot of your wedding decor?

image.jpg

We made the majority of our wedding decor. My family and a few close family friends spent months prior to the wedding creating bedazzeled and glittered Mickey and Minnies, Aurora, Belle, Snow White, and Cinderella.  The list is almost endless.  We shopped yard sales, Goodwill stores, and Dollar Trees.  It is amazing how many Disney touches we were able to include because we took the time to search in places that many people might miss.

11. What inspirations did you take for your dress or bridesmaids from Disney, if any?

image.jpg

When I shopped for my wedding gown, I knew that I wanted something reminiscent of a Disney princess. However, I really didn't want the usual "pouf" of the typical princess dress, so after i found the perfect dress, I had the seamstress "depouf" the skirt a bit. The bridemaids dresses were pink. I always loved pink and wanted them to resemble Aurora's dress.

12. What would you say is your favorite part of your wedding day?

Even though it is difficult to choose my favorite part of my wedding, I would have to say that the cake was the most amazing. A close family friend made the base cake, which was delicious, but then we found an amateur media producer who projected "alive" Disney scenes onto the cake. Guests would stand around amazed by the cake.

13. Have you gone on a honeymoon yet? If so, where?

We left for our honeymoon the day after the wedding, and of course, we went to Disney World.

14. What advice do you have for brides who want to have a Disney inspired wedding?

image.jpg

My advice for other Disney brides would be to take your favorite part of Disney and shape the rest of your special day around it.  For example, Main Street USA was the inspiration for the sanctuary.  A local artist generously loaned a beautiful backdrop of Cinderella's castle for us to use as the focal point of our ceremony.  Another friend researched the "gray stuff", also known as the Master's Cupcakes in the Be Our Guest Restaurant in the Margic Kingdom.  We were able to include these special touches from the elements we love most about Disney.

15. Are there any future Disney plans?

In the future, we plan on visiting as often as we can, but ultimately, we would love to someday move to Orlando to be closer to Disney.  My dream job would be to work at Disney World.

16. How do you have Disney magic in your lives' everyday?

We incorporate Disney into our lives everyday.  Literally, I have included lots of Disney decor into our house.  My mom has also created scrapbooks that hold our Disney memories, so we are able to look at these and relive those memories whenever we want.  We incorporate Disney into our lives everyday, every minute by remembering that "Laughter is timeless, Imagination has no age and dreams are forever" - Walt Disney
