To all who come to Talk Disney To Me, welcome. I love to share everything Disney from news updates to travel tips, upcoming merchandise to interviews. Together let's explore the wonderful world of Disney.
We wants the Redhead?

A little out of left field, but in the 2018 Pirates of the Caribbean refurbishments at Walt Disney World and Disneyland is said to have the Wench Auction scene changed to a chicken and livestock auction. The redhead we all know and love will become a pirate herself.

There's clearly two sides to this change. One side can say "this is part of history. Pirates are the lowlifes who steal and drink among other things." All true. You cannot rewrite history and pretend it didn't happen. There have been other changes to POC other than theming it to the movie franchise. Think of when the women are chasing the pirates out of their village. The roles were reversed years ago.

Now the other side of this is human trafficking was and still is a major issue in our world. Why, in a light hearted attraction, would the audience want to see women being sold at auction. Perhaps this is a sensitive topic for some guests on the attraction.

Either way you look at it, this is a teachable moment for children and adults alike. And like I have said before, the Disney Parks are always changing, updating, and being refurbished. What may be a new change for one person may become a classic for another.
